Do you have a favorite Scooby-Doo video game and why? And what would you like to see in a potential future game?

  1. The GBC one was pretty good, but I like the SNES game the most. It had a nice blend of platforming and storyline. The "puzzles" could have been better, and the level design was buggy, but it was fun.

    Also, the Sega Genesis/Master Drive version was different from the SNES. Sega's was a "point and click" kind of game. This was tedious because it took forever to figure out what to do, and back then there was no Internets to look things up. Once you figure it out it's fun and the storylines are solid.

    All the other games felt generic and never really stood out as anything special to me.

    I would like to see an epic Scooby game that has multiple mysteries that take place in several parts of a city/region and all tie together somehow at the end. That way there can be backtracking to previous levels and using special abilities and power-ups that couldn't be used before to explore further. The game could also be played so that any of the first set of mysteries could be accepted in any order, which means you could play it a different way multiple times and it would be different. Also, each area may require a different member of the gang in order to get past. Also, each member performs certain tasks. Shaggy can perform gymnastic moves to get through obstacles. Scooby can crawl through narrow passages and sniff out scents, Daphne could be best at searching out clues in various areas, Velma can examine clues and form theories, and Fred could operate specific machinery and build items that can be used to access out of reach areas and catch villains.

    I think you should be able to split the gang up however you want, and based on how you split them up will contribute to how quickly you solve a mystery. At the end of each mystery, you must put the conclusion and the evidence together yourself and announce the identity of the villain(s) and what their schemes were. You get a score based on how correct you were that contributes to what ending you get after the final grand mystery of the game.

  2. Well, I've only played those that were available for PS2. They were all very good, in terms of animation, challenge and all that, but Night of 100 Frights stands out. I particularly liked this cause it had all the difficult levels, and, call me crazy, but I loved having to re-start an new game once I got stuck. I remember enting it from my video club when I was, like, 7 years old, and, since I was lame at playing at that day, I had my Mum stay up late and complete the levels for me. LOL, yeah, I was a baaad boy... 😉
    Anyways, after two years, my Dad bought me the original game for Christmas, and I finished it after two or three years... But I really loved all the challenge, the going-back-and-forth and all that included! 😀

  3. Night of 100 frights is my favorite. Great story, great visual design and loved all the references. Really it's one of the few Scooby games that should get an HD remake.

    I will say that Classic Creep Capers for the Gameboy Color is my second choice and it was almost my first. It is perhaps the best way to do the mystery aspect of SD and it was really fun. My only real problem is that there weren't more mysteries, had there been it would be my favorite. I definitely would like to see an HD remake of this game and truthfully I would prefer a series of games like this, but I would prefer they do classic mysteries as this one did.

    There are others I liked, but most of them have major failings. First Frights and Spooky Swamp were great from a technical perspective, but the designs were odd and the stories sort of bland. As for the others I haven't been overly impressed. Scooby Doo Who's watching Who for PSP gets an honorable mention, it was a good game and had it been slightly better it might have placed higher for me overall.
