SpiderScooby here with another Question of the Week. This week’s question is “Would you want to see a CGI animated Scooby Doo movie/series?”

Personally, I don’t think Scooby would work well in CGI. I think Scooby works best in 2D animation. But, if pulled off correctly, it could work. What do you think?

  1. What, you mean where every thing and every character is 3D? No.

Do you mean 3D but with the cartoon look (cel-shaded)? No. Those cartoons always look cheesy to me.

I think the recent full length movies have it right in the animation department. I just wish they would have better character designs. I would like to see them drawn to look more realistic. Right now they more or less look like their Hanna-Barbera incarnations. Which is fine, but come on, I think we're well past the era of flesh colored eyeballs. And Daphne was never that tan.

  2. Ok Scooby works as a live action movies & evev comic books so I could see in CGI or heck even anami!I just seen that the Cartoon Network's next Batman series will be CGI so a new new Scooby series in CGI be far behind? Just don't make the charactors look stupid!

  5. I think both; a live action show based on the movies and in 3D animation because I think it's nice to update this century with the latest in animation and take Scooby-Doo to the next level. I mean after all, the franchise is 42 years old and I think it'll bring the real meaning of reboot.

  6. Yes and no.
I'd love to see it but I'm afraid if they did it once they'd keep doing it and that's something I definitely don't want.
Maybe do one DTV pixar style as an experiment then go back to traditional animation from then on.

  7. I guess. But what do you think; PIXAR animation or DreamWorks animatioon? I wanna make it clear that PIXAR is associated with Walt Disney Pictures and Animation and Warner Bros. Animation is its competition. Besides, they're working on a new film together "1906" and it's about the San Francisco earthquake of 1906 and that movie is gonna be directed by Brad Bird. He also directed "The Incredibles" and "The Iron Giant". DreamWorks is associated with Nickelodeon for "The Penguins of Madagascar" and "Kung Fu Panda: Legend of Awesomeness" and potentially on Cartoon Network for a TV show version of "How To Train Your Dragon".

  8. I was just using pixar as an example to illustrate my point.

Do 1 3-D DTV in the style of pixar or dreamworks then drop it and go back to 2-D animation.

  9. OK, I'll take DreamWorks because it's associated to Nickelodeon and in the near future, Cartoon Network; home of Scooby-Doo

  10. Maybe... I don't know. I think Scooby is perfect just the way it is. I don't say that I would not like to see some CGI elements in the new series and/or movies, but a whole CGI animation? No thanks, I'll stick with the combination of 2D and 3D.
