News Roundup: SDMI Premiere Date, New DVDs, and more!

Hello everyone. Before I get to the news, let me apologize for the lack of posts these last few months. Things came up, I got busy, and well, I won’t bore you with details. Anyway, now that SDMI is coming back, things will get back in full swing.

Speaking of, you’re all probably wondering when Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated will be returning. It was reported that it would be airing back in May. It was also rumored for a July 10th return. Obviously that didn’t happen. Now we have a confirmed date thanks to the guys at Toonzone. SDMI will now be airing five days a week at 1PM starting on July 30th{a whole year after season one ended}. It seems pretty clear that Cartoon Network will be done with Mystery Inc after this season with its new timeslot and such. But the good news is we won’t have to wait forever for new episodes to air.

In DVD news, Warner Bros. is releasing three new compilation DVDs. The first, Scooby-Doo! 13 Spooky Tales From Around The World, was released back in May and contains previously released and new to DVD episodes. Most of the unreleased episodes come from the Scrappy era. Scooby’s All-Star Laff-A-Lympics: Spooky Games will be released July 17th. This DVD will finish the remaining episodes from Laff-A-Lympics season 1, but will also have a entirely new episode made specifically for this release. “Spooky Games” finds the gang off to compete at the World Invitational Games where a 1,000-year-old statue comes to life and threatens the entire event! Cartoon Network will also be airing Spooky Games on July 28 at 6:30 PM.

And finally, Scooby-Doo! 13 Spooky Tales: Holiday Chills and Thrills is a collection of holiday themed episodes coming October 16th. This DVD will also have a brand new episode called “Haunted Holidays“, but nothing is known about this episode yet. Here are the episode lists:

  1. So no chance of a third season? No potential of travelling the globe? Oh well.

New episodes each day? You sure it isn't a new ep, then rerun, then new and so on?

  2. Doesn't look like it unfortunately. And from all the comments I've seen from people working on the show, SDMI was always planned as a two season show.

According to that schedule at TN, definitely a new episode every day.

It kinda makes me wonder if they're already working on a new Scooby show. It wouldn't surprise me.

  3. That's what CN have done/are doing with Batman. I wonder if it would be a sequel to SDMI or continue the original gang, i.e. from WNSD and the current DTVs?

  4. At last!
New SDMI episodes around the corner, I can't wait to buy season 2 on DVD, hopefully in Parts 1 & 2.
If they bring it here in Greece, that is... I'm still waiting for those new releases to come here... They probably won't because of the economic crisis...

  5. Thank God! There is at last a sure air date for the season 2 of SDMI! Ι can't wait to see the new episodes (and of course I mean the episodes 32-52, because the episodes 27-31 are already on internet as they were aired on Boomerang UK last month) and to be realised on DVD in Greece because I would like to see them in greek too and of course I'd like to have that DVD in my scooby-doo collection!

  6. Isn't it a sin, Scooby-Doo 4ever? Greek Scooby fans waiting for new DVDs during the crisis.
Anyway, Audio Visual should translate the season 2 episodes, they left us with "All Fear the Freak", SDMI's younger audience in Greece has to see what comes next! They can't just log in the internet and watch them, unless they know English, that is.
For example, my young cousins loved the show (the older one likes Pericles' evil character) and watched it again and again. One day, the younger one asked me whether there were any other episodes out, and I told her "Soon or later".

  7. Big Top Scooby-Doo! will be released on DVD on 19th September 2012 in Australia, I'm really surprised that the movie is been released in Australia first. Ben 10: Destroy all Aliens was been released on DVD in Australia last month, and will be released in October in the UK, with no sign of USA release either.

I'm really stating to wonder why Warner Bros. have not announced or released these animated movies in the USA, I hope we get announcements soon.

I really dont get why theirs such a long gap in between episodes does WB not believe in Scooby anymore?
