Now that Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated has ended, what do you want to see for the next series? Should it be a continuation of SD:MI or something new? How about a CGI series? It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if they went the CGI route. I think it would be interesting to see. What do you think?

  2. I'd be afraid if they went CG they'd never wanna go back.

2-D animation is dying a slow death, I'd like Scooby to stay 2-D.

As for what I'd like to see, I'd like to see a show much like SD:MI but not as dark.
Brighten up, have a continuing storyline, a new animation style, and have more fun.

I love the darkness of SD:MI but I would like to see a return to a What's New type of sensibility.

I want them to create a living, breathing, universe with interesting characters and development.

  3. I agree with Scooby Doom! above. If they went to computer animation, they'd never go back. Plus, those ideas are pretty spot on for a general desire for future Scooby shows.

But if I were to choose something specific, maybe some crossovers with the DC universe? Or maybe a superhero/secret identity type of show, where the gang plays a group of masked detectives that stop burgeoning/wanna-be super villains at night, and struggle with day by day school work, given that vigilantism is against the law. There could be some interesting dynamics, and they could bring back some of the older canons of Scooby Doo, like Shaggy's dad as the police chief, or maybe show the old school villains in a new, exciting light of crime-fighting. The gang wouldn't necessarily have to fist fight the bad guys - they would just break into the scene of the crime, analyze the clues, and set traps, before leaving the villain to the police with an explanation of the crime.

Well, at least I think that would be cool. If that isn't done (which is likely), maybe do something where the gang works in the supernatural world, proving that the monsters aren't committing the crimes they are accused of, that mortal people are dressing up as monsters to commit.

  4. 3D animation is better if done properly to where the characters look 2D and have a classic frame rate. It is cheaper, it maintains consistency in proportions, and it speeds up the whole process.

I would like to see a Scooby-Doo/Silent Hill crossover, in video game form of course.

  5. Personally, I would like to see the gang in 2D (3D is good, but it won't work with Scooby). The idea of having the next series to be a sequel to this series would be awesome.

I would like it to have the same darkness as Mystery Incorporated, guest characters and a main plot (I think that from now on ever Scooby series will have it, because let's face it, it worked on this one, and what's good must be kept). I imagine the next one being similar to this one, except that the gang would be travelling a lot more around the world, similar to their previous incarnations.

Actually, i have an idea of how this new series should be. I think they should pick the idea from the live-action films, where the gang has an HQ in Coolsville and investigate cases not only in their town, but around the world (kinda like being real detectives, being hired to solve them and all). The way they designed the town in the second movie was something that I would like to see again, and of course the Coolsonian with all their enemies' costumes in it. Not to mention that the main plot would be of one of their villains being responsible for the rest of the villains they face, who's trying to find either a relic or something regarding the real supernatural. The name would "Scooby-Doo Mysteries" or perhaps "Scooby-Doo Mystery Files".

What do you think? Would it work? Would you like to see it?

  6. I would love to seem them get a really good cast together and do a Live-Action series. Thats if they had the budget formit. Maybe a new voice actor for Scooby (Frank Welker is part of Scooby History, but I really dislike his voice for Scooby..) I'd love to see more of the individual gang members' lives, and not necessarily have a monster per episode like in the original series (and basically ever series after that.) That way, sub plots could be properly and deeply developed. I'd prefer if the next series didn't have cases of the supernatural. I like how they did it in Mystery Incorprated but nice and simple mysteries work best in my opinion. I'm loving hearing your ideas, would be cool to see some of them.

  7. I'm intrigued with the thought of a CGI series. I think them trying a DTV in a CGI format would be a cool idea, but I don't know if I'm willing to commit to a series of it just yet.

Truthfully for the next series I'd almost ask for a reboot of APNSD. SDMI was really dark so I feel for the next show we need something very light. Plus I would like to see APNSD animation style in the digital age. Plus I just love the comedy style of APNSD.

    @ Jesse
I definitely agree with you about Frank Welker, great voice actor, but never sounded quite right for Scooby. Honestly I wonder when he'll retire, even his Fred voice is starting to sound less then spectacular.

  8. I think the next series should be a continuation of SDMI, but with a little bit of a lighter tone(for the first season). I feel that the series should be called Scooby-doo Mystery Mayhem, loosely based off of the video game of the same name. A year after the events of SDMI Scooby and the gang set off traveling around the country as they head to the college in Coolsville where Harlan Ellison invited them to when they stumble across various amounts of their classic capers who secretly work for a secret organization bent on capturing a book called The Tomb of Doom, a manual on how to create the scariest monsters they have ever faced!

The series should have new charcters(from the video game) and old characters from the SDMI and others from older Scooby shows and Hanna-Barbara. There should also be two new love interest for Velma and a more "recognizable" love interest for shaggy (like a certain someone from the reluctant werewolf or alien invaders), whom they meet at their new college. I would also love for the gang to live in their Mystery inc headquarters like the one in SD2MU after they reach Coolsville!!!

I strongly would love for WB to focus a "darker tone" season on the zombie level from the video game and incorporate it into the series where the Secret Organization infected the population of Coolsville with a virus by using the Tomb of Doom to turn them into zombies. Velma and her new boyfriend could to invent a cure while trying to survive with Scooby, Shaggy, Fred, Daphne and Shaggy's new girlfriend.

I would also like it they focused on their average everyday lives in the first to mid-second seasons in some of the episodes to flush out the relationship matters and they're new lives as young adults.
