Scooby Is Headed Back To The Big Screen!
Via Variety
Hello everyone. Let me apologize for my absence this past month. Life just got in the way and I wasn’t able to post. Anyways, the biggest news these past couple weeks is that Warner Bros. is bringing Scooby back to the big screen…in ainmated form this time. Little details are known, other than Matt Lieberman{Short Circuit remake} will write the script and that Charles Roven and Richard Suckle{Scooby-Doo 1&2| will return as producers.
Personally, I’m very excited for this. Doing a animated feature is absolutely the right way to go. One of the problems with the live action films is that the CGI{especally the CG for Scooby} just looks terrible now. I thought the CG looked bland in 2002, and in my opinion it has only gotten worse over time. With a animated feature, you won’t have that problem of course. It will also be interesting to see if they decide to go the traditionally animated route or if they ‘ll go the 2D or 3D animated route. I would prefer a traditionally animated movie but I’m also curious to see what a CGI animated Scooby-Doo would actually look like.
A couple other news items of note. What’s New Scooby-Doo is now avaliable in both standerd and high definition on iTunes and Amazon Instant Video. The first issue of Scooby-Doo Team-up will be released on November 6th. Check out the offical description below.
Rumors of a giant bat-creature bring Scooby and the gang on the run—but Batman and Robin are already on the trail of their old foe, the monstrous Man-Bat. Before long, the crooks behind a fake bat-creature will come face-to-face with the real thing…with the good guys caught in the middle! Don’t miss the start of this new, bimonthly miniseries!
I heard it will be directed by Raja Gonsell. Is that true?
BTW, Raja Gonsell also directed the new "Smurfs 2" movie.
I haven't heard anything about that. It might be too early to start speculating who the director will be.
The traditional animated film is dying out or mostly is dead. I think something has to be well written before you go into traditional animation. But then again has anybody seen anything good written that's for CGI animated films? Nowadays when they do do a traditional animated film it usually has CGI put in somewhere like the Loch Ness Monster in the 7th DTV.
*crosses fingers for a PG-13 traditionally animated murder mystery film*
Murder? Isn't that too hard for a cartoon?
Nice!!! I can't wait to see this!!!!
