Scooby-Doo! Team-Up #2 Review
Holy overactive imagination! When Scarecrow attacks using his fear gas, only humans are affected, leaving Batman, Robin and the Mystery Inc. gang trapped facing “monsters” from their own imaginations. Now, it’s up to canine crusaders Scooby-Doo and Ace the Bat-Hound to save the day!
After sitting on this it for a few days, I feel very mixed about this issue. On one hand, it was a fun issue like Team-Up #1. But the more I think about it, the more nitpicks I have. For one, not much happens in this issue. Basically the whole story is Scarecrow attacks, Scooby and Bat-Hound track down Scarecrow, Batman comes in to save the day. Maybe I’m being too harsh, but I feel like the story was over too quickly. Thankfully, it’s saved by the interactions between Scooby and Bat-Hound, which is absolutely perfect. The gang and Batman & Robin are incapacitated thanks to Scarecrow’s gas{which leads to some hilarious hijinks where everyone thinks they’re fighting a different monster}, leaving Scooby and Bat-Hound the stars of the book. Unfortunately, that is ruined by the ending where, instead of Bat-Hound taking out Scarecrow, Batman comes in to save the day. Scooby gets the final victory at least, but Batman does most of the work. I was really hoping for Scooby and Bat-Hound to do more during the final fight.
Unfortunately I don’t have much to say about Scooby-Doo! Team-Up #2. I didn’t hate it, but the first issue had a much better story and better action. 2.5/5.
