Do you prefer real monsters or bad guys in masks in Scooby-Doo?

I mostly prefer guys in masks. I really like the concept of real monsters, but it's rare that it's executed to my liking. I feel that often the mystery gets shoved to the side when a real monster enters the equation. And at a certain point the writers just end up citing "magic" as the explanation to everything which is about as lazy as having it all be a dream. The live action movies were particularly lazy about the monsters, usually resorting to either vague explanations or books that just happen to contain important information on magic.
Though the DTV's have done it really well in the past, but I really don't want to see another live-action movie wasted on a real monster, I'm hoping for the next one they give us a traditional bad guy without the aid of real monsters.
The villains behind masks is classic for Scooby, and I'm confident to say that we all grew to love it. But i wouldn't mind seeing real monsters once in a while.
Aside from the comedy and occasional romances there are two elements to a scooby doo episode. Who is the guy under the monster makeup and what is he up to?
