TeamUp_5 (1) Story: Trouble in Paradise Writer: Sholly Fisch Artist: Dario Brizuela Plot: Wonder Woman invites Velma and Daphne to Paradise Island to solve a series of monster attacks where the a mythological creature attacks and then disappears without a trace. Teamup5_1

Okay, so I’m probably just being nitpicky since I did enjoy this issue, but I was slightly disappointed that Daphne and Velma would be the main focus of the book…which they were. But when I started reading this issue, I was half hoping it would be mostly Daphne, Velma, and Scooby and that Fred and Shaggy would have a small role to play. Alas they did find a way to bring the guys into the story. That’s not a bad thing, mind you. There are some nice moments with Shaggy driving Wonder Woman’s invisible jet. But since this is a Wonder Woman team-up, I just wanted to see some more girl power.

I also don’t understand the “men can’t step foot on Paradise Island” logic. Because by not setting foot, you would think that would mean no man could touch the ground of Themyscira at all, or the Amazons would lose their power. Yet Wonder Woman is able to keep her power and defeat the villain because Shaggy landed on his back instead of his feet.

I did like the humor in this issue, mainly the whole madness with Shaggy knocking out the Cyclops with the invisible jet. Velma and Daphne also have nice reactions when they’re told Batman recommended them for this mystery.

Overall, a decent issue outside of a few nitpicks. This is the first issue that doesn’t feature Batman{or the Teen Titans}. So it’s nice to finally see some other heroes take center stage. 3/5

  1. Aphrodite's law said a lot about feet, but it said absolutely nothing about backs or bottoms. And, of course, Shaggy is an ex-sports star. Don't believe me? Watch Laff-A-Lympics.

  2. Question: Are the Scooby-Doo gang twitters legitimate? For example @DaphneBlakeMI. Daphne's page says Be Cool Scooby Doo is out in your fall (our spring)! That's not long to go! That's exciting! I also can't wait for a press release of cast for our new movie!
