  1. Good question. For me I like the movies/DTV's better.

Don't get me wrong, I love the shows, but often times I feel like the movies can accomplish more. Often the mysteries in the shows are cut short. There's less character development (I mean we didn't even get last names for the main characters until like the 80's) and not a whole lot of chances are taken (Often things stay the same). The shows can get repetitive quickly. As much as I love the shows I only really love SDWAY TNSDM APNSD and SDMI, the others are all kind of so-so to me (That's not to say that each series doesn't have it's highlights). And out of that list of shows I provided only SDMI gives me the thought provoking mysteries and character development that I want (Though it lacks the comedy).

At the end of the day its sort of a quality over quantity issue, there's so very many episodes of Scooby Doo and sadly so many of them are filler and not really worth the time. The movies, even the terrible ones, at least offer something different each time and have some purpose and impact. From real monsters to cast reunions the movies just try to do a little bit more and more often than not they hit it out of the park. They take what the shows do and make it bigger and more thought out. Some of my best memories of Scooby Doo in my childhood is watching those very cinematic DTV's on television for the first time, they changed my perception of Scooby Doo, so I like them better and look forward to the next movies/DTV's to come.

  2. I feel you get more value for your buck from a TV series. With a series it's weeks of enjoyment instead of just and hour and 15 minutes.
