This week’s Question of the Week is what was your favorite and least favorite Scooby moments from 2012?

My favorite is probably SD:MI Season 2. My least favorite was Music of the Vampire. In fact I’d say the DTV’s from the past year or so have been pretty weak.

  1. I think anymore comments on what I think about the current DTVs then it would qualify as spam, but I agree. After Camp Scare it kind fell in quality, but even from Abracadabra-Doo it was kind of lame. They had to go back to the retro look & clothing, but with the technology of today. They also had to do the whole Fred/Daphne thing again which was okay the first time, but this time was bit long in the tooth.

The writers try to play around with them and it's funny for adults and perhaps even kids, but like all things in Scooby-Doo it just becomes a gimmick. They went a little overboard in Camp Scare though. They made it too obvious and yet there's still probably nothing going on between them. You can imagine there's probably something going on between them, but since it's never going to happen in regular continuity (because for one thing it would become a continuity plague/hassle and two it's just to poke fun at it) it just ends being a and childish.

  2. I'd also like to hear your views on the DTVs that are being re-released onto Blu-ray. Perhaps even have a comparison between the DVD & the Blu-ray?

  3. ^^^ I don't think it is spam since I haven't complained about the exact same thing.

  4. I loved Abracadbra Doo and Camp Scare, but I agree. It didn't help that Phantosaur and Music of the Vampire had very average scripts Big Top was a little bit better, but not by much

  6. SD:MI was the high point. I didn't see Big Top but I hated MotV.

Never liked musicals so it was just boring.

The Scooby comics are mediocre as well, have been for years.

  7. I'm sure Abracadabra-Doo was the worst. It wasn't bad, I'm just saying that it wasn't good.
My favorite is a tie between SDMI 2 and Mask of the Blue Falcon. They were both pretty good.
^I'm gonna have to agree with you on that one

  8. What I don't like is that CN does the movies. How they air on CN first instead of on dvd. I liked the beginning of Abracadabra-Doo, Camp Scare, and Legend of the Phantasaur. The opening to Big Top was too cartoony. WB should bring new moveis to dvd first, and not CN.

  9. Should I hold out hope for a more complete collection of The Scooby-Doo Show? Season 2 seems to be an impossibility (probably because there's nothing to release it with), season 1 was released as The Scooby-Doo!/Dynomutt Hour: The Complete Series and I doubt H would seperate season 1 of The Scooby-Doo Show & Dynomutt, Do oner. And then there's the so-called season 3 which was released once under Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!: The Complete Third Season and then again as a part of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!: The Complete Series.

  10. I'm also considering The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show: Volume One. Of course it's up to me, but any of your thoughts would be much appreciated.

  12. Well, my favorite ones were definetely SDMI S2, Spooky Games and Blue Falcon. My least favorite would be Music of the Vampire. I am not saying it sucks, it was pretty good, but I think I would enjoined it more if they had released a soundtrack. As for Big Top, it was great. But I still can't say my opinion on the Xmas special, Haunted Holidays, I haven't seen it, have you? Please post a link...

  13. ^ When making a musical you should at least market it as such.

^ I can understand why you included the Blue Falcon movie, but technically it isn't officially released until this month.

  14. Favorite part was when Shaggy and Daphne sang together in MotV. Shows they make a good couple.

My most hated part was SDMI when all the mutated animals were shown. That was just messed up.

  15. There's a LOT of DVDs being re-released in a green frame. http://www.amazon.com/Scooby-Doo-Characters-DVD/b?ie=UTF8&node=497650 I don't know why. Why don't they actually spend their making something that hasn't been released before.

  16. New combos I've been meaning to post:

    1. http://www.amazon.com/Scooby-Cyber-Chase-Boo-Brothers/dp/B008KHTQW8/ref=sr_1_42?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1360823722&sr=1-42
    2. http://www.amazon.com/Scooby-Alien-Invaders-Goes-Hollywood/dp/B008KHXXFO/ref=sr_1_41?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1360823722&sr=1-41
    3. http://www.amazon.com/Scooby-Doo-Mystery-Artist-Not-Provided/dp/B008B4LRP4/ref=sr_1_39?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1360823722&sr=1-39

Now the question for me is at least for Alien Invaders/Goes Hollywood, should I get the combo and miss out on the seperate front covers of both or get the region 2 of both of them seperately. Although it would help if I knew if the region 2 releases had the same special features as the region 1 releases.

  18. ^ LOL. It's basically an extended version of what I said. Scooby-Doo! Mask of the Blue Falcon is the only one that is entirely new and not a re-release.

  19. I liked Big Top Scooby-Doo! but Scooby-Doo! Music of the Vampire could have been much better, and failed as a musical.

The Blu-Ray releases of DTVs are great, the audio/video quality is much better than the DVDs, and we finally get the older DTVs in widescreen.

Unfortunately the green border DVD releases on Amazon are just re-releases, with no changes to the actual DVDs. I wish Warner Bros would actually remaster these DVD, and provide the widescreen versions, especially for earlier DTVs and What's New Scooby Doo?
