Cartoon Network has announced a brand new series called “Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!”. Little is known at this point other than it is described as a comedic adventure about the gang during their last summer after high school. The official description is below.

Be Cool Scooby-Doo!: Be Cool Scooby-Doo! is an all-new 22-minute animated comedy series from Warner Bros. Animation. The Scooby gang is back with a modern comedic twist on the beloved classic. With high school over and one last summer to live it up, the gang hits the road in the Mystery Machine, chasing fun and adventure. But monsters and mayhem keep getting in the way.

So what do you guys think? Do you like that they’re taking a more comedic approach? Me? I’m very interested. I just hope the comedy is fresh and not like What’s New Scooby-Doo.

  1. I know it's real obviously, but where did you get all that from?

  2. I've seen the animation before on other cartoons. I just want it written real and not a clone of something else with a Scooby twist. Ironic, isn't it?

  3. They made more Ben 10: Omniverse comedic, and it's fine, but it was funny enough as it was. And doing something so drastically different I think is a little damaging. But I hope this Scooby-Doo will be a reboot (which it probably will be) and it doesn't really matter if it doesn't really fit. It could be good humour or it could be the generic trash everybody has to do because it's the in thing right now.

  5. I'm unsure about the name, but the rest of it sounds fine. Really a return to comedy is appreciated. After two seasons of drama and action from SDMI I'm ready to have a fun little adventure. I'm liking the art style so far.

Truthfully I'm glad they're modernizing to a degree. I mean trying new things can be messy (Like Get a Clue), but they can also be great (Like SDMI). So I think it's a risk worth taking. Plus the two live action TV movies did a good job of bringing the gang into the modern world, so we know it can be done. Sort of hoping they change up the gang's clothing this time around. I love their classic clothing and all, but I've grown a bit tired of them being the only people in the show dressed like it's 1969 (It just weird's me out when the rest of the world is living in the present and they're not).

  6. I hate when they do this! Offer us something completely different and don't give us a trailer, clip or teaser! Nothing but a picture of a completely transformed Scooby!
I'm worried but excited! I hope it's really good and I love it! If not, CN will pay! I can tell I'm gonna be stalking the internet in search of anything till it happens. Hahaha
    Thanks for posting!

  7. I can't help thinking the new series will be like the new "episodes" on the Scooby-Doo: 13 Spooky Tales DVDs.
    "Spooky Games"
    "Haunted Holidays"
    "The Spooky Scarecrow"
    "Mecha Mutt Menace"
    "Ghastly Goals"
    "Beach Blanket Beastie"

  8. All of the Scooby gang now have twitter accounts.

Daphne indicates Be Cool Scooby-Doo! will start Fall 2014.

  9. Those are just fan/rp accounts I believe.
    I think they follow me.

The press release from CN says its for the 2014-2015 season so it should start sometime between September '14 and April '15.

  10. This doesent sound too good. We just finished Mystery Incorperated which I think is the greatest form of Scooby and this is how they follow it up?

Should be a continuation of SDMI. I hope at least same voice talent and similar art.

    Is Tony involved?

  11. I disagree, SDMI's story was completed. The implication with the ending is that it leads into SDWAY (Or any version of Scooby Doo where they're traveling), so there isn't a real reason to continue it. Sure I guess they could finally reach that university, but do we really need a show where Scooby and the gang go to college? SDMI was great, but I feel like I'm ready for some light hearted summer fun with Scooby and the gang. Plus it's too soon to do another dark and dramatic SD, I mean they don't want to wear it out this quickly.

And you don't need to worry about casting, they almost always carry over casting. And the art style in the preview image is similar enough. To me this just sounds like a modern day version of SDWAY.

  12. I like SDMI, I do, but I think it's probably the best thing to do is not do a overly dramatic storyline after SDMI. However, there is other kinds of drama that can be done, not just how it was done in SDMI, so I'm all for variations.

  13. I also hope they do their voices a little different again, like they did in SDMI.

  14. Not worried. This can't possibly be any worse than SDMI.

I hope it isn't like Adventure Time or Gumball or any of those other stupid mind rotting shows.

Also, I hope there is no plagiarism... oh, I mean "parody" of other shows, movies, video games, Internet memes, etc., as was the case in SDMI.

Also, hope there is no Frephne. If so, I'm sure that's going to be the main portion of the "comedy".

I hope this is more along the lines of Fututrama, only without the obscene humor.

Also, I prefer Fred not be an idiot, but if he is to be an idiot, then they should at least make him a funny idiot. Fred was a funny idiot in Pup.

  15. Honestly if you don't like parody that's fine, if you don't like SDMI that's fine. But don't pretend like Scooby hasn't done some highly derivative things in the past (I mean the gang is based off of Dobie Gillis characters). I mean it's a show that makes light of the monster/horror movie genre. It's been parodying things since the beginning.

I can respect your opinion, but I don't see why all you're posts have to be overwhelmingly negative all the time. You've told us what you don't want the show to be, perhaps telling us what you would like it to be would be refreshing.

I will agree about the Fred/Daphne relationship. It's a kids show, WB will never commit to them actually getting together, so why keep including that story line. I mean I can understand breaking out the relationship gimmick every once in a while for dramatic purposes, but since the 90's it's been pretty constant. A break from the relationship drama would be great.

  17. These are two possibly very strange ideas, nobody freak out. Ok?

I had this really weird thought, what would it be like if Scooby Doo had a series with no monsters, things took a slightly more realistic turn. Like they investigate cases like The Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew used to. It probably wouldn't work on this series, but never-the-less, it's just an idea.

The other idea had nothing to do with the series, but the movie we're expecting in 2015 (is that right?) I don't know if you've ever played Scooby-Doo: "Mystery Mayhem," but that was one of my first experiences with Scooby. Anyway, I would love it if the film was 4 seperate mysteries that ended up connecting together in a really cool and profound way like in that game!

    Anyway, what do you think?

  18. @Ross This isn't a continuation of SDMI. SDMI had the gang expecting to see monsters and mysteries, where as in this new series they're trying to get away from that (aren't they always, though?).

And you're not exactly a new user, unless you're a different Ross, which I doubt it.

  19. Well at least it will be a new series and one more thing shouldint there be a preview of the new series like how sdmi did

  20. I actually like the Fred and Daphne relationship and even the Shaggy/Velma thing. It was really nice that after kinda two dimensional characters for 40 years they added some cool character traits.

The Fred being dumb thing got on my nerves in the beginning but then I took it as him kind of pretending because he didn't know how to express his feelings.

Also, I would love for there to be a continuing story line. It was fun to not be able to wait and see the next episode.

  22. Impresionante!

  23. What the hell have you idiots done? This new "be cool scooby doo" is crap, the characters look like shit, scooby isn't supposed to talk like that, they don't look the same or act the same...you've completely disgraced the name "Scooby Doo" and my childhood you half twits!!
