Posted by SpiderScoobyHope you’re all having a good Thanksgiving week. This week’s question is: Should there be a live action series and how would you do it? Would it be a 30 minute comedy, or a hour long mystery series? Should Scooby be done with CGI or done with practical effects?
Yes, a live action series would be great. I would want it to be an hour long, and I think I would want it to be the same premise as the Scooby Doo Movies (With a guest star every week). Scooby would be done in CGI, it works so why fix what isn’t broken.
Yes! I agree, a 1 hour series with occasional guest stars (just not every week, there’s not many “stars” in this day and age that I would want to see).
I’d like to see the current live-action cast return as well.
I don’t know. Psychdoes the guest star thing pretty well(even if they go overboard sometimes).
I think I would prefer a new cast. Maybe a bit older cast. They don’t have to be in high school.
A live action series would be good, but it would have to take on a more serious approach, similar to what the new series is doing (or something similar to Supernatural), and it would ahve to be a one-hour long episode series. As for Scooby, he would be done in CGI (but good CGI, not a crappy version of him).
Occasionally there could be a few guest characters, to give a nice touch to it. I would also like to have a recurring cast, such as the Hex Girls, Vincent Van Ghoul, and even perhaps Flim Flam (no Scrappy of course).
Oh, and of course, there would have to be multiple references to the original series and to the movies as well.
For those who said that I was lying about the movie…

@Ilma, as Strangely said before. No one called you a liar. You must understand, if you say something with nothing to back it up people are going to be very skeptical…to say the very least!

Anyway, I think the hour long style is overrated and pointless. Not the Scooby Movies mind you. I like those. I just mean the concept in general. If the writers need an hour to hold a storyline, then they can break it up into a two-part episode.
The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show did this as did The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries, only in those they had 11 minute episodes that they made into full 22′s when they had to.
I don’t like the live actions at all. It just doesn’t feel right. It seems phony to me. Like actors trying to imitate something, rather than a genuine installment. The worst is how Scooby is animated. CGI just doesn’t fit the character in my opinion. I would rather see them use an animatronic puppet or a real dog with CGI manipulations to the facial features to make it look like he’s talking.
As for the choice between serious or comedic, I say why not both? I think this has always been the style of Scooby-Doo, to have scary and serious mixed with lighthearted and funny.
